MR. POPULAR UPDATE & RELEASE DATE CHANGE
MR. POPULAR UPDATE & RELEASE DATE CHANGE
Have you ever seen that movie 'The Devil Wears Prada?' The one where Anne Hathaway's character is literally at the beck and call of her boss Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep)?
Well that's **exactly** how my current job is, except I don't work in the fashion industry, I work directly under an official in the government's office. I'm the personal assistant, and that means my time (even when I'm at home) is never really my own. And when I've told you in the past that I literally have to *steal* time to write and promote my books, I literally have to *steal* time to do that. (Like, right now with this post actually)
Anyway, I received my final formatted copy of Mr. Popular yesterday evening. I'd planned to call in "sick" tomorrow through Thursday so I could 1). Go through it one more time in peace, by myself and 2). Spend the week with you guys promoting this story that I love so much. (Like, this story was true labor of love and I can't wait for you to read it)
But instead, I'm currently crying and packing for a business trip that I can't get out of. When I got to work today and saw the travel portfolio and November itinerary on my desk, I almost quit on the spot. I wanted to yell, "I have a book releasing next week, a husband, a family, and new blog to run! Are you serious? I can't go out of town this weekend and I'm *not* going! Eff you!") But of course if I wanted a job to come back to, I knew that wasn't an option.
Long story short: I don't want to have to hit publish (again) and then not be around to enjoy the moment or promote it because I'm listening to speeches or sitting in on meetings I *have* to be there for. I actually want to enjoy the release of my second book, and I want to experience that feeling of having a stress-free week before release because I swear when I get back, I'm requesting those days off and reading it *for myself* one final time like I want to.
That's why I've decided to bump the date out slightly. In the grand scheme of things, I know it's not a big deal but as an indie, sometimes every little thing seems like a big deal, but I have no choice here.
In the meantime while you wait, this gives me the opportunity to share the first few chapters/sneak peeks of Mr. Popular which I'll do via my blog and I'll also be giving away way more ARCs because you guys are what inspire me to dream of one day becoming a full time author. That, and I've been receiving some really amazing feedback about this release in the form of really sweet emails from my beta readers :-)
Thank you for understanding,
Nicole London
